Newly emerged from the sea, two penguins stand side by side—beads of saltwater still clinging to their sleek feathers. They face the camera in synchronicity. The moment is unposed yet composed, a study in kinship and symmetry shaped by sea and wind.

Materials & Presentation

Fine art archival paper print

Each work is printed to order on museum-quality archival paper selected specifically for the image and series. Sandy Coburn works with three Hahnemühle papers, each chosen for how it serves the subject:

Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth — 305g/m², 100% cotton, matte finish. Used for landscape and nature series, including Echoes in Sapphire, Torres del Paine, Banff, Tibet, and Chefchaouen. The velvety matte surface enhances luminous colour and tonal depth.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta — a semi-gloss fine art paper with the visual quality of a traditional darkroom print. Used for all animal and wildlife series including Tender Tides, Bright Beaks & Bold Personalities, Eyes in the Forest, and Salt & Stature. The semi-gloss surface enhances texture, bringing out the detail of fur, feathers, and fine coat markings with exceptional depth and rich blacks.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic — a subtle metallic sheen that adds dimension and luminosity to high-contrast monochrome work. Used for select black and white images from the Jewelled Light & Symmetry (Morocco) and Stone & Shadow (Peru/Sacred Valley) series.

All papers are acid-free, fade-resistant, and produced to museum archival standards for long-term stability.

Prints are delivered unframed as standard.
