Returns & Refunds Policy

Sandy Coburn Photography & Communications  ·  Last updated: May 2026

Please read before placing an order All limited-edition fine art prints sold by Sandy Coburn Photography are made to order. Each work is produced individually to the collector's specifications and assigned a unique edition number at the time of purchase. For this reason, all sales are final.

1. All Sales Are Final

Sandy Coburn Photography does not accept returns or issue refunds under any circumstances except those set out in Section 2 (Damage on Arrival) below.

This policy applies because:

  • Every print is produced individually to order and cannot be resold or reassigned to another collector.
  • Each artwork is assigned a specific edition number within a strictly limited run of fifteen (15) prints per size. Once produced, that edition number exists in the archive permanently.
  • Production begins promptly after payment is confirmed, committing materials, production time, and fulfilment resources that cannot be recovered.

The following are explicitly not grounds for return or refund:

  • Change of mind after purchase.
  • Colour appearance that differs from screen display. Screens vary widely in colour calibration. Sandy Coburn Photography strongly encourages collectors to request a pre-purchase consultation to discuss colour, tone, and material before committing to a purchase.
  • Size or scale expectations. Dimensions for every size option are published in full on the pricing page. Collectors are encouraged to measure their intended wall space and contact Sandy Coburn Photography with any questions before ordering.
  • Delay in production or shipping beyond estimated timelines, unless the delay is unreasonable and unresolvable (see Section 4).

2. Damage on Arrival

Sandy Coburn Photography stands fully behind the quality of every print. If your artwork arrives in a damaged condition as a direct result of transit, we will arrange a replacement at no cost to you, subject to the conditions below.

2.1  Eligibility conditions

Reporting window Damage must be reported to Sandy Coburn Photography by email within 48 hours of confirmed delivery.
  • You must provide clear photographic evidence of: (a) the damaged artwork; and (b) the damaged or compromised packaging as received. Both are required. Claims submitted without photographic evidence of packaging cannot be accepted.
  • The damaged print must be returned to Sandy Coburn Photography before a replacement enters production. Return shipping will be arranged and covered by Sandy Coburn Photography.
  • Claims submitted after the 48-hour window cannot be accepted, as it is not possible to determine whether damage occurred in transit or after delivery.

2.2  Why the damaged print must be returned

The return of the damaged print is a condition of replacement, not a formality. Sandy Coburn Photography maintains a private edition archive in which every print's edition number, collector, and condition history is recorded. A damaged print that remains in circulation — even unintentionally — creates a discrepancy between the physical and documented editions of that work.

Upon receipt, the damaged print will be formally retired from the edition, documented in the archive, and destroyed. The replacement print will carry the same edition number and be accompanied by a new Certificate of Authenticity reflecting the replacement.

2.3  What happens after you report damage

  • Sandy Coburn Photography will acknowledge your report within 1 business day.
  • A prepaid return shipping label will be provided for the damaged print.
  • Once the damaged print is received and its condition confirmed, production of the replacement will begin immediately.
  • The replacement will ship directly from the fine art production facility, accompanied by a new signed Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Production and shipping timelines for the replacement are the same as for standard orders.

2.4  Damage that is not covered

  • Damage caused after delivery, including during installation, storage, or handling by the collector or a third party.
  • Minor variations in colour, finish, or framing that fall within normal production tolerances.
  • Damage to packaging only, where the artwork itself is undamaged.

3. Cancellations

Orders may be cancelled without charge within the following window:

Cancellation window Within 24 hours of payment confirmation, provided production has not yet commenced.

To request a cancellation within this window, contact Sandy Coburn Photography immediately by email at the address provided in your order confirmation. Please include your order number in the subject line.

After 24 hours, or once production has commenced (whichever is earlier), cancellation is not possible and the full order value is non-refundable. Given that production typically begins promptly, collectors are strongly encouraged to raise any questions or concerns before placing an order.

4. Production & Delivery

Each print is produced to order by Sandy Coburn Photography's fine art production partner and shipped directly to the collector. Estimated production and shipping timelines are provided at the time of purchase and in your order confirmation.

Sandy Coburn Photography will notify you of any significant delay beyond the estimated timeline and will work with the production facility to resolve it. In the unlikely event that a print cannot be produced or delivered within a reasonable period due to circumstances within our control, a full refund will be issued. This provision does not apply to delays caused by force majeure events, customs procedures, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

5. Pre-Purchase Consultation

Given the made-to-order nature of all works and the no-refund policy, Sandy Coburn Photography strongly encourages collectors to take full advantage of the pre-purchase consultation process before placing an order.

Through the consultation, Sandy Coburn Photography can:

  • Confirm current edition availability and your edition number.
  • Discuss size options in the context of your specific wall space and interior.
  • Provide guidance on medium selection (fine art acrylic glass vs. museum-framed) based on your image choice, lighting conditions, and display environment.
  • Share additional detail images, colour references, or material samples where available.
  • Answer any questions about the production process, timeline, or Certificate of Authenticity.

To arrange a consultation, visit sandycoburnphotography.com/purchase or contact sandy@sandycoburnphotography.com.

6. Consumer Rights (EU & Netherlands)

Sandy Coburn Photography & Communications is registered in the Netherlands (KVK registered, operational base: Humanity Hub, Den Haag) and operates in accordance with applicable Dutch and European Union consumer protection law.

Under EU Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights, the standard 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to goods that are made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised. As all prints sold by Sandy Coburn Photography are produced individually to order, assigned a unique edition number, and personalised through the consultation and acquisition process, they fall within this exemption.

By placing an order, collectors confirm that they have read and understood this policy, have had the opportunity to raise questions via the pre-purchase consultation process, and consent to production commencing upon payment confirmation.

Nothing in this policy affects any statutory rights you may have under applicable law that cannot be excluded or limited by contract.
